In 1983, BethAn Nishijima opened Nori’s Saimin and Snacks in Hilo, roughly 10 minutes from the Hilo airport.
Nori’s cultivated a reputation as a must-stop place for baked good omiyage, or gifts, and while the homestyle cafe still whips up house-made cookies, pies and other desserts, another staple is its saimin.
Starting at $6.95, the cafe offers hearty bowls of the Hawaii comfort food, made with traditional noodles and blanketed with green onions, fishcake, char siu and egg strips.
